The 10-day Summer Remedial Camp 2023 organized by Niraivagam from 25th April was concluded on a high note on 6th May at St. Bede’s, Santhome. There were 27 deserving children belonging to Stds. III to V from 7 Salesian and Non-Salesian schools in Chennai, who participated with great enthusiasm and energy. The camp was made possible by the hard work meticulous planning and dedication of Fr. Niraivagam is part of a month-long Summer Camp organized by Don Bosco Youth at Risk for the Children from Government Homes from various parts of northern Tamil Nadu, coordinated by Fr. Vincent Mariapragasam SDB.
Inauguration of Ten-day Remedial Summer Camp conducted by Niraivagam began on 25 April 2023, under the leadership of Fr. Joseph Jeyaraj, Director of Niraivagam, who designed the whole camp along with Mrs. Anne Florence, HoD of Child Development, Niraivagam. It was held at St. Bede’s Academy, Santhome. There were
Annual Retreat for the Support staff of Salesian Province of Chennai was preached by Fr. Ravi, Assistant director of Niraivagam. The retreat was organized in four zones of the province and there was good participation from the fours Zones and the number of participants are as follows – Chennai 96, Vellore 30, Pondicherry 40, and Tirupattur 135. All together 301 supporting staff took part in this retreat. This retreat was organized in order to prepare them spiritually for the season of lent and Easter.
On 27th March Fr. Ravi, the Assistant Director of Niraivagam animated the students of english department of M.G.R University, Maduravoyal, on the title “Management of Emotion, Attitude and Behaviour”. Seventy students took part in this session and benefitted from it. Students expressed that the session was enticing and enlightening and made them to reflect on their own emotions and to work on them positively.
Second day of six-day animation program took place on 21st April for the 12th standard students of Don Bosco School of Excellence. The session was handled by Dr. Magimai Pragasam, Mr. Selvendhiren and Bro. Yacop. The theme of the session was “How to use the media for the better living”. At the end of the session students said that they came to know the positive impacts of media and analyse more clearly the negative effects of media that affects the students both mentally, physically and socially.
Niraivagam is offering a one-year Health and Wellness Programme on Life Skill for Empowered Living for all the students of Don Bosco School of Excellence, Egmore. On 29th March, Inauguration of the Health and Wellness Programme: Life Skills for Empowered Living was held in presence of Rev. Fr. Tony Robert, Principal, Rev. Dr. Joseph Jeyaraj SDB, Founder and Director of Niraivagam, Fr. Ravi Aruldass SDB, Asst. Director, Dr. Magimai Pragasam, HOD of Training Services at Niraivagam and Mr. Selvendiran, Training Coordinator, teachers and participants. The first session on Gender Empowerment was conducted by Fr. Joseph Jeyaraj SDB, for the 12th standard students. Sixty-seven students both boys and girls took part and benefited from the session. Students expressed that the session was very useful and helped them to know and respect each other and appreciate their phase of growth as adolescents.
Niraivagam organized two days of residential workshop at Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur. The workshop was held on 7th and 8th March on the title “Life Skills for Empowered Living”. On 4th and 5th of March Niraivagam family day was celebrated at Don Bosco Animation Centre, Ennore. On 6th March Niraivangam family also was very fortunate to celebrate the birthday of the Director of Niraivagam Dr. Fr. Jeyararaj Joseph SDB. Nearly 30 Niraivites and the members of their families took part in this celebration
